💰 How Payments Work

Unavakam uses Razorpay as the payment processor. Razorpay is one of India's most trusted payment gateways, used by thousands of businesses. Payments are processed over HTTPS using PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure — your payment details are never stored on Unavakam's servers.

When you select a plan and click Subscribe or Upgrade:

📅 Monthly vs Annual Billing

All paid plans (Lite, Standard, Elite) are available on monthly or annual billing cycles. Annual billing saves 17% — equivalent to getting about 2 months free per year.

For new restaurants, monthly billing is recommended initially. Once you've used Unavakam for 2–3 months and are confident in your plan choice, switching to annual billing saves money. You can switch from monthly to annual at any renewal point from the Billing screen.

🔄 Upgrading, Downgrading, and Cancelling

Upgrading

You can upgrade your plan at any time from the Billing screen. Click Upgrade Plan, select the higher tier, and complete payment. The upgrade takes effect immediately — you don't need to wait for your next billing cycle. If you're mid-cycle on a monthly plan, you'll typically be charged a prorated amount for the remaining days at the new rate.

Downgrading

You can downgrade to a lower plan at any time. The change takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep the higher plan's features until the cycle ends, then drop to the lower plan. Be aware that if your current usage exceeds the lower plan's limits (e.g., you have 100 menu items on Standard and are downgrading to Lite's 75-item limit), you'll need to reduce your usage before the downgrade becomes effective.

Cancelling

If you cancel your subscription, your plan stays active until the end of the paid period, then reverts to Starter. Your data — all orders, menu items, expenses, staff records — is retained for 30 days after the account drops to Starter. After 30 days with no resubscription, archived data may be permanently deleted. If you're taking a seasonal break or temporarily closing, consider pausing rather than cancelling.

🧾 Billing History and Invoices

The Billing History section at the bottom of the Billing screen lists every payment made to Unavakam, with the date, amount, plan, billing period, and Razorpay transaction ID. You can download a PDF invoice for any payment — click the download icon on any history row. These invoices are useful for GST input credit claims (if applicable), business expense records, and for sharing with your accountant as part of your monthly or annual book-keeping.
